Linda's Cafe

Linda's Cafe is our local breakfast spot. Sure, they serve lunch and dinner, and do an OK job at both. They're called to do breakfast, though. They make wicked pancakes, good waffles, a yummy but not overly greasy chicken fried steak, and have some really good homefries. They excel at over hard and scrambled, and my wife loves their eggs benedict.

They're friendly, honest and right down the street, which makes them perfect for me. There's no pomp, no cloth napkins, and no glass glasses. It's all paper, plastic, and oval plates you could fit a small pig on.

They're the best part of local. They're a hub for neighbors to meet, eat and talk. On Saturday mornings they're always busy, but never so busy you have to wait for a table. It's usually rich with conversations, but never so loud you have to shout to be heard. It's where Max and I go to breakfast almost every Saturday, where we have a "usual" and everyone knows what we're going to have to drink.

I'm a Sterling resident as well and was happy to find Linda's cafe, on Church, just off the bike trail. My wife and I live in the townhouses just off the bike path. So it's a dangerous and delightful notion that in the Sterling sprawl, we can actually walk somewhere like Linda's to eat.

Any way, it's the first Sunday of daylight savings, so with the "Fall back", we've woken up early and have that extra hour. I found this blog while trying to see what hours Linda's is open. I BUY LOCAL. Great idea for a blog. My wife (who's a much more avid blog reader than me) will probably look into it.

In the meantime, if you're interested, I have blogs at C I A and at Tribe Platypus. They're somewhat political--so don't take offense if we're not on the same page. I'm not an ideologue--and I'm happy to share an appreciation of neighborhood comfort food.

Peace.
