Starting Anew: Cyntha's Salon and Spa

I've been getting my hair cut at the same place for over five years now. I have problematic locks. My hair is wavy without being curly, and thick, but I have cowlicks in weird places. I spent a year when we first moved to Sterling look for a good barber. I tried everywhere and endured many a bad haircut. My poor wife, while pregnant with our first, got her hair butchered by a place in town. Then, we found Cynthia and Misook. Cynthia always cuts Jen's hair, and Misook always cuts mine (unless she's off wandering the world, then Cynthia does it). They're the best. They're fun, interesting, and best of all, they give great hair.

Cynthia's used to be in a tiny tiny strip mall in a part of Sterling that's falling apart. Parking was limited, and I'm sure they didn't get any walk-ins, stuck between Subway and a bar. Today was their grand opening in a brand spanking new shopping center in Ashburn. The place is gorgeous and they both seem so happy, so excited. I know they must be nervous, what with a new place and all the little things that can go wrong.

If you live in Ashburn, or anywhere near it, please drop by. You won't be sorry. You'll get a great haircut, have a good conversation and will most definitely become a regular. We love 'em. They're our family's first Sterling tradition, our first "regular place", and I hope they're as much success in their new digs as they can handle.

I went to Cynthia in August 2005, as soon as she opened her Ashbrook (in Ashburn, VA) salon. I figured going to the owner would be a SAFE bet. Well, was I wrong!! I was trying to grow out my hair and wanted to get a trim to help me deal with that in-between state. Instead, Cynthia suggested a perm. Yes folks, in 2005, a perm!

My first clue should have been her comment that she had recently permed another client, and the client's husband insisted she come back to the salon and have the perm removed.

So, the salon was as busy as ever. And Cynthia would only occasionally check on me and my perm. 49 minutes (!!!) after the put the solution on, she removed the curlers and I gasped as I realized I looked like a sheep. The curls were horendous. Cynthia instructured me not to wash my hair for 2 days and come back for a FREE conditioning mask (clue #2 folks!). Little did I know that my hair was FRIED.

2 days after the perm, my hair started to fall off in pieces, and whatever hope I had of growing my hair out was lost. Instead, I had to cut it ultra short, deep condition it daily, and deal with it for the next 5 months. Here we are in December, and my short hair is only now starting to look somewhat normal. The ends are still fried and it will take another hair cut before the evidence is gone. Nedless to say, BEWARE BUYER. I suggest based on my experience that you avoid Cynthia and her salon. Go to a hair stylist you know and trust. If you don't have one like that, ask a friend!

I recently moved from the McLean, VA area to a small town in Western Maryland. I took the advice to get my hair done in this little Podunk town and WOW was my hair a mess. I get blond highlights, and if any of you are blondes, listen up - SHE FIXED MY HAIR and it looks incredibly natural, in just 3 trips. I travel for two and a half hours to see Cynthia - she is upbeat, clean and organized. I wouldn't go anywhere else - and definitely not in Western Maryland. ~ Loyal Client

After reading an unfair negative comment I feel it is my responsibilty to tell you my experiance over the last 10 years as a customer.
Also let me affirm my knowledge of Cynthia's very satisfied customer base that included, players, wifes and girlfriends of the Redskins and presently one of thier coaches.
We also have knowlegde of cutomers coming as far away as Md., Pa. and of course Fairfax County.

Further we have seen a family arrive after driving a few hours to spend a day of treatment and relaxation.
We have also seen letters and cards from satisfied brides and customers, thanking her for the great work done.
More importantly I personally have experianced (when at her shop) seeing proffessional women at the shop for the frist time as a result of a reccomendation of other proffessional women they wotk with.
Reccommendations are earned and getting an appointment with Cynthai is no easy task even thou she has been known to work six days a weekto keep up with demand.
My own experiance was that I always had other shops color my hair and it always came out looking unnatural and not cut well either. I tried several stylist and after many years of that
A lady friend of mine (her customer) turned me on to Cynthia,s Salon and Spa.
I did and the results where natural looking, combined with a great hair cut.
As I understand it Cynthia has a reputation for repairing work done bye others,Cynthia takes her work seriously and calls her customers her friends and extended family because she cares about them and her work.
Cynthia is very honest and customer oriented.

Thierfore the lady that got a perm she didn,t like and said damaged her hair for months to come. Well this just IS NOT consistent with what we know about Cynthia,s Salon & Spa and the outstanding reputation her stylist have.

I made my stylist forever indepted to me so that when she moved, she would come visit me to fix my ultra scandalous hair. It is nice to see a locally owned business grow.

I have been going to Cynthia's salon since I moved to Ashburn in 2002. She is phenominal. Cynthia and Stella treat me like a friend and not just a client. I have NEVER been disappointed in Cynthia's cuts. I would recommend her, or any of her stylists, to anyone. I hope she never moves!

I am new to the area and have long hair that is colored and highlighted. I had been going to the same stylist for ten or more years and so I was very skeptical about going anywhere else. However, the price of gas and a four hour ride home changed my mind. I stopped in at Cynthias and she did my hair, and she did a beautiful job. My hair looks and feels great and she was wonderful. She was not scissor happy as some are when they see long hair and she used a conditioner that made my hair shiny and soft. I will be going back, I know that!!
